Memory Configuration

The Compaq AlphaStation XP1000 System supports two Arrays of buffered JEDEC 21- C and PC100 standard SDRAM DIMM memory. The memory clock speed for the 500 MHz model is 83Mhz. The memory banks are labeled as shown in the following figure.

Memory Configuration Rules

There are eight memory slots, consisting of Arrays (Banks) "0" and :"1". Memory must be populated in Array “0” first. Refer to the CPU Daughter Card to locate banks A and B and their orientation on the CPU Daughter Card.
DIMMs must be in identical sets of four (one array/bank). If you are replacing a faulty DIMM, you can replace the bad DIMM with one identical to the other three DIMMS in the array/bank.
Each DIMM in a bank must be identical, but a bank does not have to be identical to the other bank.
SROM will order the addresses, largest arrays first.
The system has a memory capacity of up to 2.0 GB.

Only DIMMs qualified by Compaq are guaranteed to work. At press time, DIMMs may be any of the following configurations.

Note: Four of each DIMM are needed.
